Nico The Beast- The Beast Within Mixtape

AGZ- Put Ya Hood Up

DJ N.O Presents Tone Trump & Friends December 13th

Nico The Beast Bio

Nico The Beast
When it comes to Philly, the music scene isbuilt on a number of things: Soul, honestyand raw talent. You could say that these three things are encompassed in one man, South Philly’s own Nico The Beast. Startingout in 1999, he honed his lyrical prowess onthe battle scene, decimating any competitionthat came in his path with witty wordplay andback-breaking punchlines. It wasn’t until 2006 that Nico really started to record his raw material, something that writers like Jeff Weiss accurately describe as “knucklenosed, blue-collar sobriety”. In 2008, his hard work culminated with No Beast So Fierce, his debut album that saw Nico hold his own alongside Philly Hip-Hop denizens like Reef the Lost Cauze, 2ew Gunn Ciz and many more. Showcasing his no frills/no nonsense attitude with intricate flows, Nico kept the kettle warm with series like “Feed The Beast”, where he went on a tear, annihilating instrumentals and building his rep. Many heads turned when the awe-inspiring Dinner Is Served mixtape followed, being an even iller example of Nico’s many lanes: endless flows, deep introspection, a
never-say-die attitude and just real Hip-Hop flavor. While many writers and
“tastemakers” were dripping in “swag juice”, Nico kept it colder than the other side of the
pillow, delivering raw uncut reality on a steel plate. Outside of his own projects, he
always took the time to show love to those who hollered, providing insane features on a
host of releases time and again.
All of this has culminated with the release of his latest album, The Beast Within. After
some reorganization within his life, and some personal losses, instead of cowering in a
corner, Nico took his pain and frustration to the beast, bringing you his truth, no matter
how intense. Whether it’s detailing his anguish over losing his son to detailing the events
of a horrific car accident, he attacks each beat the same: head-on with no qualms. In a
world where posturing and perpetrating can get you everywhere, it makes sense that a
born and bred South Philly Beast represents the essence of what Hip-Hop is built on.
A father of four (three alive and one sadly deceased), and a husband of five years, Nico
remains the blue-collar Beast, using the spoils of these MC wars to feed his family.
That’s another trait that could be associated with Philly: a never say die attitude, and a
loyalty to those in your circle. Nico The Beast is all of these things and more, and invites
you to realize that with every bar he spits…

A MESSAGE TO ALL ARTISTS (MUST READ)

With light of recent events with a few hip-hop websites being shut down instantly online by the federal government a few hours ago (including OnSmash, DaJaz1, and more as we type) , BYC Promo WILL NOT post any illegal music or video of ANY KIND on our site. ALL CONTENT MUST BE SUBMITTED VIA EMAIL FROM NOW ON. Please email us at lala@bycpromo.com or kwan@bycpromo.com to get your material on the site. Thank you.

This is why! Story from Myce.Com

The Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement raided a file sharing site for rap and hip hop music this week after obtaining a search warrant signed by a United States Magistrate.

RapGodFathers had nearly 150,000 members and had been in operation since 2005. DHS and ICE agents raided a Dallas datacenter Tuesday and seized the sites servers, while authorities began the process of taking over the domain name.

But were any of the activities taking place on those servers actually illegal?

“We only link to mixtapes, albums in the hiphop/rap genre,” a senior staff member told TorrentFreak after the raid. “Lots of those mixtapes help new artists become much bigger for example Drake, Chamillionaire, Wiz Khalifa. It also gives the users to listen to an album before buying it to judge the quality. Almost 99% of the time if people on RGF liked the album and posted positive comments, that given artist had a big success.”

“We ALWAYS removed links connected with any DMCA requests so this is a big surprise to us and our host because we collaborated to get all the links removed asap,” the staff member claims.

The site owners are making attempts to get back online quickly with a new domain name and alternate hosting outside of the United States.

It’s sad that even sites which are supposedly compliant with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act are being subjected to this kind of treatment from the government. This is further proof that the country is making progress toward becoming some kind of a police state. Citizens need to start fighting back and voicing opposition to actions like this before its too late.

This is the official reason from: Baller Status

Congress finally hammered out a bill on last Thursday (November 18), called the Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA), which would empower the government to take action against websites offering unauthorized copyrighted or counterfeit content.

Last week Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved the bill, in which the Attorney General gains the right to shut down websites with a court order if copyright infringement is deemed "central to the activity" of the site.

The (COICA) basically gives the Attorney General option to seize and shut down websites ... if they suspect wrongdoing. Several bloggers are calling it the industry's "nuclear option" in their attempt to combat digital piracy, because it bypasses already placed laws, the legal process of suing, and a fair trial.

It's the latest attempt by Hollywood, the music biz, and big media companies to fight back against file sharing, after losing billions of dollars over the last decade.

In addition bigger file-sharing websites, a few hip-hop websites have become targets, including popular audio/video blog OnSmash.com and online hip-hop community RapGodFathers.com.

At press time, when visiting both websites, you are greeted with an image that reads: "This domain name has been seized by ICE - Homeland Security Investigations."

The content companies have tried suing college students. They've tried suing internet startups. Now they want the federal government to act as their private security agents, policing the internet for suspected pirates before making them walk the digital plank.

Dajaz 1, aka Splash of OnSmash.com, wasn't even aware of what was going on apparently. In a series of tweets (@Splash_Dajaz1), he expressed his outrage over the situation, following his first assumption that it was the work of hackers.

"Um hackers... Applaud yourselves. You've done good. At least it was your dumb asses & not them boys," he wrote on Thanksgiving afternoon. "My site goes down & I get more followers today than I ever did. Hackers staying closer or the employees from the feds. FML either way.."

He later tried to rationalize the reasoning behind the seizure, breaking down the process of the site's staff posting music.

"Hackers steal music & sell it to certain sites then the sites tag it & post it. I then get the untagged & post it so becuz I post the untagged too quickly, I mess up the $ 4 the hackers & the sites that pay for music. So erase Splash! if that's truly the case then why do that to onsmash & rapgodfather ?" Splash asked.

"I still say hacked over real seize but then again."

A staff member of RGF spoke to TorrentFreak.com, who explained that they only linked to pirated content, and did not host it themselves. But, it still didn't matter.

"We only link to mixtapes, albums in the hiphop/rap genre," the staffer said, who further explained that immediately removed content when notified. "We ALWAYS removed links connected with any DMCA requests so this is a big surprise to us and our host because we collaborated to get all the links removed asap."

They have since relaunched their site at the new domain name, RapGodFathers.info.

Here's a little breakdown of what this means, as explained by Wired.com:

The content companies have tried suing college students. They've tried suing internet startups. Now they want the federal government to act as their private security agents, policing the internet for suspected pirates before making them walk the digital plank.

Many people opposed to the bill agree in principle with its aims: Illegal music piracy is, well, illegal, and should be stopped. Musicians, artists and content creators should be compensated for their work. But the law's critics do not believe that giving the federal government the right to shut down websites at will based upon a vague and arbitrary standard of evidence, even if no law-breaking has been proved, is a particularly good idea. COICA must still be approved by the full House and Senate before becoming law. A vote is unlikely before the new year.

Among the sites that could go dark if the law passes: Dropbox, RapidShare, SoundCloud, Hype Machine and any other site for which the Attorney General deems copyright infringement to be "central to the activity" of the site, according to Electronic Frontier Foundation, a digital rights group that opposes the bill. There need not even be illegal content on a site -- links alone will qualify a site for digital death. Websites at risk could also theoretically include p2pnet and pirate-party.us or any other website that advocates for peer-to-peer file sharing or rejects copyright law, according to the group.

In short, COICA would allow the federal government to censor the internet without due process.

The mechanism by which the government would do this, according to the bill, is the internet's Domain Name System (DNS), which translates web addresses into IP addresses. The bill would give the Attorney General the power to simply obtain a court order requiring internet service providers to pull the plug on suspected websites.

Because of these events, we want to play by the rules so we can give you another outlet to get your music heard out there. So we ask you to please follow these rules so we can keep the site going! Thank you!

JAMEL PARKER (J PARKS) WRONGFUL CONVICTION

Jamel Parker aka J Parks, needs your help.

In 2007, on his way home from the studio working on his music, he boarded the # 2 Train in the Bronx going home in the early morning hours, several stops later New York Transit Police boarded train and arrested him for robbery & assault. He posted bail and fought the charges for three years, offered probation and refused, because he was innocent, to further prove his innocence he took lie detector test and passed, but unable to use for his defense in Bronx court.

On Mon., Nov. 15, 2010 Jamel Parker was found "guilty".

J PARKS PAID ATTORNEY WAS INCOMPETENT AND FAIL TO:

Do the proper research on the case that would have proved CLIENT innocent.

Introduce witnesses to the court, that were on the train the night of incident that would have testified that CLIENT was alone on the train and not involved in the incident.

Have the Transit Officer that took CLIENT'S statement after arrest in the court to testify, about what was in the statement, and how did statement of client get lost or misplaced. Jamel's statement, after arrested unavailable for trial.

Stress that the reports written by Transit Police, never gave a description of any of the perpetrator(s) or his CLIENT. According to victim there were (8) people that attacked and robbed him for his cell phone, change, and keys.

Let go of the juror that went to high school with the arresting Transit Officer, that took the stand. The Transit Officer that arrested Jamel, did not take statement from CLIENT.

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS, a juror indicated in a sent message on Facebook that there was misconduct by the jurors and that she wrongfully gave a "Guilty Verdict", when she believed that Jamel Parker is "Innocent".

Jamel Parker will be sentenced of Tue., November 30, 2010; we are asking all to sign this petition, asking the judge for leniency, to declare a "Mistrial", due to the misrepresentation by his attorney, lack of evidence, and the tainted jury.

Odd Squad

Odd Squad Records was created from the mind of Penny More sometime in 2001. From that day forward Odd Squad would start a movement that has captured many till this day. Although the group is still very much underground, the influence they have had on a local level has ...been impressive. From then till now the group has taken many forms, gaining some members, losing some more but the plan and the dream has always remained the same. The original members consist of “Jay Fire”, Da Fliptorious One, Verb, “Penny More” and a soul whom no longer is in the physical but here on a spiritual level Yoel “Cise” Marin June 14th1981 – Feb. 1st 2007. As well as members Jae Stage, D Stacks, our songstress Jeshaze, & Shai aka the choice of NY.

The team as a whole would like to say we are inspired by our own music, which on many levels is exactly the case but, it would be unfair to ourselves and to hip hop not to mention the many artists who have come before us and paved the way for our talents to shine, here are some names to mention a few: Tupac Shakur, Notorious BIG, Big Pun, Eminem, The Lox, Mos Def and Talib Kwali, Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane and Rakim, along with the Wu Tang Clan and that’s not even scratching the surface. Through there lyrics and trends, we were able to use their music as the soundtrack of our lives and develop a voice of our own. After studying the business practices of independent record labels such as Rocafella and Aftermath, Oddsquad Records developed our own techniques and ideas as to what it takes to take a small time rap group and turn them into a household name.

After many trial and errors, ups and downs and some business relationships coming to a complete hault, Odd Squad has finally found their way. It would take finding a partner and Manager Shaileen “Shai’ Amazing”Aponte to help open up avenues Odd Squad had not yet taped into. Only after sending and promoting music on HHH radio shows such as Streets Radio’s Under the Radar, On Deck Thursdays and Lyrical Massacre all hosted by Ms. FeFe of NAB also DTF radio, as well as UEG radio for untouchable Wednesdays on in the mixx radio, Odd Squad's dream become more and more apparent. Through these promotions and possible lifetime connections, Odd Squad would go on to do shows for Elegant Hoodness Musical Program, Open mic nights at the Pyramid Club and Karma Lounge and future interviews for several internet radio shows and magazines.

Also being connected to an up and coming Photographer slash Director Maria Perez of Airam Productions. Along with that, a three track featuring would also be made possible on a Ms. FeFe hosted mix tape by the name of Open Fire Vol. 2, along with an unreleased mix tape hosted exclusively by Odd Squad was released under another label name but featured all members of the team, that mix tape would be named “The Game Will Never Be the Same Vol1”. With all that has been accomplished so far, Odd Squad is fully aware that there is still so much more to do and so many more mountains to conquer. With that being said the dream is strong and the “bigger picture” so to speak, couldn’t be any clearer. With another mix tape on the way, plus a compilation album showcasing new artists representing the Odd Squad Banner along with four new mix tape featuring 'Major Movements Vol. 39, 41 Hosted by Dj King Swat, 'Across the pond' (Cash in the bank) presented by The Heaviest Hook Ups, from the UK and Streets Radio's Open Fire Vol.3 10/2010 and will be hosting Open Fire vol 4(12/2010),the Odd Squad movement is far from over. After all is said and done the final plan is to bring the soul back to hip hop and offer a sound that hasn’t been heard yet. To finally offer something more than just the typical tight jeans, colorful shirts and 80’s revival bands, that have been the norm as of late. So with that being said we sign off with this final thought, “join us if you will because Odd squad is more then just a movement, it’s a way of life.”

ITS OFFICIAL NO MORE FOUR LOKO AFTER DECEMBER 10TH

We reported last week that Four Loko might be getting banned and exactly one week later it is official. The ban goes into effect December 10th, but there will be no new shipments after November 19th, which is this Friday.

The flow of Four Loko into New York is finally being shut off.

The State Liquor Authority has pressured the state's biggest beer distributors to stop delivering Four Loko and other caffeinated alcoholic cocktails to New York retailers by Dec.10.

And the maker of the sweet-but-potent beverage has agreed to stop shipping its wildly popular drink to New York distributors after Nov. 19.

The dual agreements will allow the SLA to fine any shop owners found to be selling Four Loko without proof it was ordered by the deadline, authorities said.

"I hope this will end the sale of this product in the state," said SLA Chairman Dennis Rosen.

Jaisen Freeman, co-founder of Phusion Projects, the company that produces Four Loko, gave a tepid endorsement of the agreement.

"We think it shows that we are not turning a deaf ear to what's going on: that a select few have chosen to abuse our products, drink them while underage or break the law and sell them to minors," said Freeman.

A 23.5-ounce can of Four Loko contains the amount of alcohol in three cans of beer blended with the caffeine of three cups of coffee.

The fruity malt beverage leaped into the spotlight in New York last month after members of a Bronx gang forced a victim to guzzle 10 cans before beating him mercilessly in what was described as a gay bias attack.

After the Daily News informed his office of the deal, Sen. Chuck Schumer said he favored an outright ban but called the move "a giant step forward in keeping our kids safe from these toxic and dangerous brews."

The agreements came after an undercover sting operation at 28 mom-and-pop stores in the Bronx last week led to four arrests for selling the booze-infused beverage to minors.

"People were complaining that kids were being sold Four Lokos in bodegas," said Assistant Chief Carlos Gomez, head of the NYPD's Bronx patrol bureau.

Nine stores in East Tremont, Castle Hill, Wakefield and Parkchester sold the drink to a teenage police cadet, cops said. They were hit with summonses.

Three additional stores - all in Wakefield - sold Four Loko and loose cigarettes to the undercover teen, leading to arrests of four employees, all charged with the sale of alcohol to a minor and the sale of untaxed cigarettes.

"The results of this investigation are startling," said state Sen. Jeff Klein (D-Bronx).

"It is clear that teens in this city have no problem getting their hands on this dangerous drink. It has to stop," he said.

The "blackout-in-a-can" has been blamed for several deaths, and authorities in Michigan, Washington, Oklahoma and Utah have banned the sale of Four Loko.
