Reach your creative potential with UD Creatives

Youth music organisation Urban Development (UD) has launched UD Creatives - a network for young people aged 18-25 designed to enable them to reach their creative potential through education, networking events, business and personal development workshops, seminars, internship and mentoring opportunities.

This exciting and inspirational initiative will bring a community of creative individuals together to receive support and advice to prepare them for sustainable careers in the creative industry and equip them with the relevant skills needed to start or build their own businesses.

With the significant rise in youth unemployment during the recession Urban Development’s goal is to stem this rise through the creative sector by allowing young people to take control of their future and approach their career and businesses in innovative and creative ways. More than 900,000 young people are still unemployed and over 250,000 young people have been unemployed for over a year.
Pamela McCormick, Urban Development’s Director says: ‘Our philosophy is ‘Dare to Dream’, we encourage young people to believe that their dreams are possible to achieve and offer a range of opportunities to provide pathways for people to gain skills to benefit their future career plans’.

UD Creatives will also have the opportunity to showcase their business, get the chance to perform and receive hands on event management experience at our Industry Takeover All Dayer which is due to take place early 2015. The all dayer will bring you 8 hours of edutainment, jam-packed with performances from the hottest names in urban music, a range of innovative seminars, open mic sessions, essential masterclasses, workshops and much more.
Becoming a member will also give of UD Creatives the opportunity to gain valuable advice and guidance from an industry mentor.

Jade Richardson, A&R Manager, Virgin EMI Records has been involved in mentoring for Urban Development. She states: ‘Mentoring young people provides real insight, inspiration and empowers them to reach their full potential. It's also pretty satisfying knowing that you've passed on the benefit of your experience and learned a few valuable skills yourself, along the way’.

Becoming a part of this exciting new network is very accessible and at a low cost of £20 for 1 years membership. Kick-start your creative journey today and become a UD Creative by registering at www.urbandevelopment.co.uk
